The Dictionary Project – \ˈthə \ˈdik-shə-ˌner-ē \ ˈprä-ˌjekt\

Since 2006, the Rotary Club of Natick has distributed dictionaries to the 3rd graders in the Natick Public Schools. In addition to a traditional dictionary, the books also contain many other useful sections. There is a copy of the constitution, a sign language instructional, a list of presidents, a state by state description, the periodic table, etc. All of the books are labeled with a custom bookplate in the inside front cover that contains the student’s name, their school, and the Rotary 4-way test. Rotarians distribute the books in each of the schools and use the opportunity to tell the students about the Rotary club, what it is and what it does.

It is estimated that over the last eight years, the club has purchased and distributed more than 3,000 dictionaries. The thank you notes that have been received over the years attest to how much the students enjoy them and what a value they are.
