President Judy and Andy Meyer had a special Award for Peter Golden. Peter has been recognized at the District level as well as at our Club for his leadership with Public Relations. Our Club has been the recipient of Peters great press coverage . We have also benefited from his leadership with the Open Door. Peter has many accomplishments to his credit, but we all benefit from his historical presentations at the Natick Library , and on local T.V. about Natick. Andy presented Peter with a book of significance: Dispossion by Design , by Jean M. O’Brien, signed by the author. Congratulations Peter. You inspire us with your service above self.
The Rotary Club of Natick was then treated with a film that honored one of our own Rotarians, Arnold Zaltas. Arnold was the recipient of an award named after Bernie Sigalov.
The film gave a description of the history of Natick through the eyes of the members of the Temple Israel. The congregation started in the early 1900’s. In 1945 the first Temple Israel was dedicated. Arnold Zaltas was the first to be Bar Mitzvah there. The film had interviews with and reminisced about people important to our Natick community as well as Temple Israel. Some of the men included were Victor Blumenthal, Neal Feldman, Sid Werlie, Israel Muskat , Bernie Sigalov and Arnold Zaltas. I am not doing this film justice as I found it interesting and informative and insightful, and just watched instead of recording information.
