About the Campaign
Underwear is one of the most-needed items in homeless shelters and organizations supporting underserved youth and families, but is often overlooked and rarely donated because it needs to be new (for obvious hygienic reasons). Traditional youth charities commonly collect gently-used clothing, shoes and toys to deliver to children in need – but not underwear. Used underwear can’t be donated.
As a result, disadvantaged youth – even in and around Natick – have limited access to underwear and often resort to re-using soiled underwear, wearing poorly-fitting hand-me-downs or nothing at all. Cocotree Kids was born out of the desire to preserve a child’s dignity by providing access to this basic human need, and we are proud to be the only organization in Massachusetts – based in Natick – with this singular focus. Our mission provides a week’s worth (7 pairs) of new underwear to each child in need.
The need for underwear is immense. In the Natick area alone, the need is for several thousands of pairs. With your support, we can ensure that at-risk youth our community feels the dignity, confidence and comfort that they deserve with new underwear that properly fits.
Thank you for your consideration.
