Natick Rotary Sprocket 2/3/15

The meeting was called to order by President, Judy Shea, Sergeant at Arms Joe Gagliardi led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Verna led us in “God Bless America”

Invocation:  In memory of Milt Gilbert

  • Judy gave tribute to Milt and his long and well lived life.  She also gave tribute to his military service that he was so proud of.
  • Peter Golden then spent some time giving the club a brief synopsis of Milt’s life.   He grew up in the Bronx and was always bright and spirited.  Then, as we all know , Milt served in the 104th infantry during WWII in Europe.  He was constantly in harm’s way including fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.  He also survived 4 months as a runner which had a very low chance of survival.  He returned from the war and married Rachel and moved to Natick.  He was a pillar of the community for many years, serving on the Planning Board and having a successful career as a Patent attorney.  In addition, he was a Rotarian for 45 years, many of them with our Club.  In Peter’s words, Milt was a Colossus of a man.  We will miss you Milt.

Please watch his interview as a part of the Veterans history project accessible on line at the Morse Institute Library.
