The Center for the Arts in Natick, www.natickarts.org, hosts about 150 peformances per year. Those performances currently bring 25,000 people to Natick. Three years ago, they began their plan for the future. Their analysis determined that with a goal of paying back $750,000 borowed, renovation of the historical building and repurposing the 2nd floor, and setting aside funds for preservation, $1.5 Million would be needed. They began a capital campaign for renovations.

For the building, The lobby will be renovated, relocating the concession area and decreasing the size of the ticket counter with a window facing the street; they will still have hanging space to support the local artists.
The second floor will become a digital screening venue for art house cinema. It will have state of the art audio and lighting. They will be preserving the historic wood trusses by insulating the building from the outside. The digital projection screen will be 25 feet wide, the space will accomodate 120-180 patrons. There will be a removable stage for classical or acoustic music. Due to no noise isolation from the 1st floor stage, they will need to have perfomances without conflict.

Walnut Hill school is adding film study to their curriculum. The space may be available to them. as well as other non-profit and businesses.

Currently the debt has been reduced to 350k, they have raised 1 million for the expansion, and have 100k in cash reserve for preservation. The monies have come from some great individuals in the community as well as some corporate sponsors, Fair and Yeager, MetroWest Subaru, Middlesex Bank and Mutual One. The Massachusetts Cultural Society has matched some of the monies. Shortly, they are going to try a kickstarter campaign.
