History of the Natick Rotary Club

Our Club's History:

On December 14, 1926, a group of businessmen gathered together at the home of J. Alden Wentworth, 14 West Central Street, Natick.  The organization proceedings began with the help of Edward H. Howard, Special Representative of Rotary International and a member of the Framingham Rotary Club.

The first organizational meeting was held on December 28, 1926 at the Old Natick Inn, South Natick, with Ed Howard presiding.  The presentation of the Charter was made a few months later on February 28, 1927 by District Governor William David at Concert Hall, Clark’s Block on Main Street.

The program began with the invocation delivered by Reverend Ted Lathrop of Framingham.  Dignitaries present were Governor Billy Davis and Past District Governor Bob Hill.  The evening’s entertainers were Whiting’s “Early Birds” Quarter, Big Brother Bob Emergy, Enos Held, Russell P. Wentworth and the Framingham Rotary Club Boys’ Band. The sumptuous meal consisted of a fine selection of twenty-two delights including twelve desserts (!!!)

Natick Rotary's first meeting was at the Old Natick Inn in South Natick
